Œnorando® The winegrowers’ round

Discover the Gaillac vineyards through this Œnorando.

Conditions are favourable everywhere for growing vines. The climate is a perfect blend of oceanic and Mediterranean influences. Gaillac is also swept by the beneficial Autan wind, a drying wind that ensures extraordinarily healthy harvests for the winegrowers.

Recognised as an AOC since 1938, the Gaillac vineyards are a bastion of ancient grape varieties. While winegrowers everywhere like to rediscover the old grape varieties that have sometimes been left aside, our vineyards are among those that have never broken with their history. Our grape varieties are our identity. Mauzac, Loin de l'œil and Ondenc for the whites, Braucol, Duras and Prunelart for the reds.

The range of our wines is dazzling in its profiles and tastes, including fresh whites, reds and rosés, still and sparkling wines, dry and sweet wines, all united by the same grape varieties.

1. From the car park, follow the small vineyard down towards the estate gates. Turn left before the gate to cross the road carefully. Go up through the vines and fork left towards the large oak tree. Walk past it to the next junction. There is a fine view of the Château de Rhodes and the church of N.D de Boissel. Turn right and continue along this path until you reach the D922 at the entrance to Boissel. At the road, turn left and take the small street below the main road. 2. In the centre of the hamlet, turn right, cross the road, go round the winery to the left and take the path shared with the "Vignobles et châteaux" tour. Leave all the paths on the right or left as far as point 3. 3. Ignore the "Vignobles et châteaux" itinerary, which continues to the right, and take the left-hand path. It runs along the ridge and offers a fine view over the vineyards. Continue straight ahead, passing under the ruins of a farmhouse and, after about 350m, fork left and walk down the hedge to the D922. 4. Cross the road and continue along the path to Mas d'Oustry. 5.Here, the path returns to the "Vignobles et châteaux" circuit. In the village, turn left and go down to the Gariguette.Cross the small road and take the path leading to Rhodes. At the crossroads with the road, turn right in front of the cemetery, pass the wine cellar, cross the small bridge over the stream and, after about 250 m, turn left.At the crossroads, turn right on the same path as before to return to the starting point.
