Lisle-sur-Tarn is a 13th century bastide, located on the banks of the Tarn at the heart of the Gaillac, enjoying a privileged location in halfway between Toulouse and Albi. A unique place with arcades in the Great Southwest, a landscape organized between forest, plain and wine-growing slopes, make this village an attractive and welcoming bastide. The place Central, renovated in 2000, is one of the largest places at arcades of the bastides of Southwest (5,000 m²). Old road of the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela, the bastide was founded after the Albigensian crusade. The count of Toulouse, Raymond VII, wanted to create a city that replaces the "castel" de Montaigut, which the Crusaders had demanded the destruction. The production and sale of wine then pastel created a rich market that opened a river port on the Tarn on Northern Europe. Still wine, Lisle-sur-Tarn is now a forced passage of the Circuit des Bastides.
