Sentier de Mespel

Close to the Grésigne forest, the Mespel path follows the shapes of the arid hills and allows you to discover the diversity that makes this region so rich. Natura 2000 area.

After leaving the Vère valley, the rock shelters at Larroque surprise hikers and give them access to the Mespel limestone plateau with its holm oaks, filaria and pistachio trees. From the path, hikers have a view of the medieval village of Puycelsi.
Larroque offers a shady and picturesque stop-off in a green setting, beside the river, at the foot of a pink limestone cliff with natural caves.
It's on the path that the old Puycelsiens (inhabitants of Puycelsi) used to visit the Roucanels (inhabitants of Larroque) that the hiker sets off.
Views of the Grésigne national forest and the 13th-century Notre-Dame des Bois chapel (20-minute round trip from Mespel). Legend has it that on two occasions the materials used to build the chapel in the hamlet were found in its present location.
