Graulhet’s urban heritage path
Take a stroll through the town to appreciate the heritage of this city, whose wealth was built on leatherwork. On your way, you'll see medieval houses and leather-working mills overlooking the Dadou, all set in the peace and quiet of the riverbanks and narrow streets.
The first village was built on a rocky islet between the Dadou, the Verdaussou stream and the marshes of the Jourdain, and the town was given the name ‘Granhola’, which translates from frog in Occitan, as these little creatures swarmed here.
From the parchment of 961 mentioning its fortified castle to the 21st century developments at Pré Millet, Graulhet offers you over 1,000 years of history. From the Middle Ages onwards, the town's wealth has been built around the leather industry.
