Not far from Puycelsi, a village listed as one of the most beautiful in France and a major site in the Occitanie region, nestles a hilltop estate of unique charm, which some landscape lovers compare to Tuscany. Acquired by Alix's parents in 1996, this magnificent property bears witness to the beautiful history of this region, the story that Alix loves to tell to remind us of its nobility.
A former hunting lodge, Château de Terride now extends over almost 34 hectares away from the Gaillac vineyards. Its vineyards are planted with 80% red grape varieties such as Duras, Syrah and Brauco and 20% white grape varieties such as Mauzac and Loin de l'Oeil.
By opening their Château and its garden to receptions, weddings and other events, Alix and Romain aim to share their taste for beauty and refinement.
Passionate about beautiful architecture, Alix has been restoring and embellishing the Château, which she has lived in and known by heart since the age of 20. From the vines to the cellar, this place is her Proust's madeleine. She remembers the family grape harvests that made her want to become a winegrower... The founder of the association "Les Z'elles Gaillacoises", she now works with her winegrower friends to help save the pigeon lofts throughout the region.
Fully aware of Château de Terride's exceptional environment, with protected areas and even Natura 2000 status, Alix has also forged a philosophy that guides her work and, more broadly, her life every day: "to leave a mark of beauty and wisdom rather than a scar".
Finally, Alix loves fantasy... In addition to the classic vintages made with Syrah, Duras or Braucol, Alix has strayed somewhat from the traditional grape varieties of the Gaillac appellation by planting Grenache or Viognier. These 'caprices' have given their name to generous, daring and modern vintages, not unconnected with the personality of the winemaker ...
While Alix is passionate about vines and wine, Romain is mad about cooking and the art of entertaining. He is the other side of the estate.
A lover of good things and genuine moments, Romain is an epicurean who likes to share and please through his cooking. He regularly organises culinary events called "A la Table de Romain". On these occasions, top chefs join him, gastronomic pairings are devised with Alix's vintages and the Château's main dining room is transformed into a temporary restaurant for special moments.
During the Château's open days, particularly at Easter and in November, but also during the summer evenings, Romain never forgets to delight the taste buds of visitors who come to discover the gardens, the vineyards or the cellar.
His motto: "Shared pleasure is the true cradle of emotion".
Alix and Romain offer tours of their estate during opening hours, all year round and every day, lasting around an hour and a half.
