At the Château de Penne, from the top of the rocky outcrop, it's best not to be afraid of heights! With the Gorges de l’Aveyron in the distance and the Forêt de Grésigne below, you can imagine yourself as a knight, or a princess waiting patiently for her prince charming!
Travel back in time to the Middle Ages at the Château de Penne
Nestled atop a rocky outcrop, you can see the fortress from the charming streets of the medieval town. Built stone by stone, the medieval building will transport you through history and time as soon as you step foot inside the fortress.
From mid-July to mid-August, you can see the builders and stonemasons in their period costumes, busy rebuilding the citadel with their tools. The craftspeople have much to share with you about the medieval skills involved in restoring the Château de Penne.
Also dressed in period costume, the guides will tell you about the myths and legends surrounding this place, which is like no other. During the medieval festival, an authentic battle between men in armour will immerse visitors into the world of castles long gone.
